June 5 - This past Wednesday we spoke to a local acupuncturist in the downtown, Susan Dembo.  Susan received her Master of Science degree in acupuncture from New York College of Health Professions.  She is a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and Nationally Board Certified.

If you are suffering from an pain or ailment, or simply want to relax, acupuncture is something to consider! Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of ailments and has many other benefits as well. These are a few conditions that acupuncture can help with:

  • Various types of pain, including arthritis, sports injuries, lower back pain, and many others
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Addictions and smoking
  • Allergies, asthma, sinusitis
  • Stress, anxiety, depression
  • Insomnia
  • Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
  • Dizziness and nausea
  • Infertility, menstrual pain, hot flashes
  • Chemotherapy side-effects

Oils are also available for sale to help with joint or other pains.

Along with the traditional needle method of acupuncture, cupping is another great treatment option. Cupping involved placing glass or plastic suction cups on the back, which create a vacuum. The cups are then removed and this process increases circulation and regulates the flow of energy and blood in the body. It can be used to help with respiratory disorders, such as asthma, relieve muscle pain, and reduce digestive problems.

Each acupuncture treatment is specific to a patient's personal imbalances and issues, which are discerned in a one on one consultation with Susan. If you are interested in setting up a consultation, or want to learn more about acupuncture, you can contact Susan at the info listed above.
